This project is to accomplish the most important function of Student and Staff Record and to alleviate the problem associated with manual system which is time wastage, misplacement of file, lack of storage facilities etc. By so the computer system will more effective, secured and available at the right time for quick decision making. In this write up, effort is made to explain the major problems involved in manual method being presently in used for keeping student and staff record. The aim and objectives of the new system, merits and recommendation on the implementation of new system against manual processing are also discussed. I used HTML, CSS and JavaScript at the frontend, while the backend I used PHP and MySQL.

 

  • BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY

In any modern day institution, student and staff record is one item that is taken with all seriousness and sense of responsibility. In fact, the success and progress in an establishment is not complete if the issues of student and staff record management is not accorded is position. So also, if the department of Science Laboratory Technology is to progress, it requires Student and Staff Record Management System designed in order to manage human resources effectively for the accomplishment of the department objectives.

The Student and Staff Record Management System will maintain the status of student and staff, through acceptance of student and employment staff, developing and utilization, which can be done more effectively and efficiently with the use of computer. The project is designed to accomplish the most important function of record keeping. (In Science Laboratory Technology, admin department, there is a personnel file that contains all information or details about an institution student and staff). By the time this program is implemented and tested it would be observed that it can perform the operation of selection, allocation and keeping of student and staff record more effectively than the manual system.

  • AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The aims of the study is to design an application program for computerize Student and Staff Record Management in order  to improve on the department decision-making and policies as it relates to human resources of the department.

Objectives are:

  • i). To overcome the problem of loss of records.
  • ii). To have proper backup mechanism.
  • iii). To ensure the availability of data in digital form for preservation, analysis and reporting.
  • iv). To improve the productivity and efficiency of the department so as to facilitate the usage of the available work force for sensitive work while leveraging technology to reduce the mundane workload of the employees.
  • v). To have easy access to student and staff information in electronics form.
